The Boss

Leanne

I left school at 16 to embark on an apprenticeship in hair dressing after being a Saturday girl at a local salon for 2 years previously to that.

I loved and still love all aspects of hair and have especially enjoyed watching our industry grow from strength to strength.

I am passionate about staying top of my game by continually educating myself and moving with the times, which gives my clients an incredible experience. 🙌

I am level 3 qualified with 26 years of experience under my belt. I’ll never stop learning and developing my skill set within the industry, that’s for sure! 👌

Outside of my hairy world I have 3 young children, a puppy and a husband, and I love family days out, long walks and holidays. Travel is big on my to-do list, in fact I met my husband in Australia 18 years ago! I also love going to the theatre and meeting friends for nights out.

I opened the doors to Salon No. 100 three years ago in May 2021 after Covid-19 and have never looked back. I love the little boutique environment we’ve created: A safe, relaxing space where everyone is welcome. We pride ourselves on a friendly atmosphere, fabulous hair and a great coffee for you to switch off and be pampered for a few hours.

I’ve known I wanted to be a hairdresser since I was a kid. I started out with a Saturday job when I was 14, and as soon as I left school, I went straight into an apprenticeship. I loved the idea of learning something I was passionate about while gaining real experience in the salon.

I’ve been in the industry for eight years now, with five of those as a qualified stylist. I trained at Reflections Training Academy in Birmingham, where I completed both my Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. Since then, I’ve kept building on my skills, including taking an Alex Walker education class and winning a creative hair competition during my training.

Before joining Salon No. 100, I worked at a few different salons across Birmingham: Phase 2 in Northfield, Urban Tonic in Kings Norton, and Root 46 in Great Barr. Each place helped me grow in different ways and really shaped the stylist I am today.

What I love most about my job is making people happy whether it’s through a big colour transformation, a fresh cut, or just a good chat. I’m especially passionate about colour work and love creating bold, confidence-boosting changes. Clients often tell me I’m welcoming and easy to talk to, and I take pride in being someone they can trust with their hair.

I think what sets me apart is my passion and my drive to keep learning and improving. Hairdressing isn’t just a job to me; it’s something I’ve always loved.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out with my hilarious parrot, and planning future travels. One of my big dreams is to visit Disney World one day!

I’ve been in salons pretty much my whole life; hairdressing is in my blood! My auntie’s a hairdresser, and I grew up surrounded by it, so it felt natural to follow that path. I officially qualified at 18, but I’d been helping out in salons long before that. Now, with over 14 years of experience behind the chair, I still love what I do every day.

I trained through apprenticeships at The Hair Shop in Solihull and King’s Norton, then completed my Level 2 at Redditch New College and my Level 3 at Henley-in-Arden. Since then, I’ve kept up with advanced training whenever I can: balayage, ombré, cutting, and a full range of hair extension techniques like tape, keratin bonds, nanos, and micro rings. I like to keep things fresh and always be learning.

My favourite part of the job? Definitely the transformations. I love seeing a client’s reaction when we’ve created a whole new look, it’s the best feeling. I’ve got a real passion for colour, especially colour corrections and creative work, and I take pride in getting it just right. People often say I’m warm, chatty, and honest, and I think being a good listener helps me understand exactly what my clients want.

When I’m not in the salon, I’m a full-on gym girl, a proud mum, and just getting back into horses again. I love a long walk, a cosy pub, and making the most of life outside of work.
